You can come to Ko Tao and year round and enjoy good weather; however you could say there are four seasons.
From March through to July, Ko Tao is at its hottest, with almost no rainfall. Temperatures can be in the late thirties, so match that with your sun cream factor (30+). This season coincides with the best underwater visibility.
From July through to October, it’s hot but the weather can be a little more unsettled, so expect the odd rain shower.
The monsoon season usually lasts around 6 weeks in November / December, however its arrival is extremely unpredictable. The monsoon is very mild and you can still expect a majority of sunny days. But when it rains, it rains! It’s actually a very pleasant time of year, when temperatures are a little lower than usual.
January through to March sees the climate becoming warmer and warmer, with fewer and fewer rain showers.
Many backpackers follow the same routes and similar timetables on their travels. A common itinerary is to go to the Full Moon Party on Ko Phangan, then come to Ko Tao to learn to dive. Please be aware that during the full moon periods, it is extremely advisable to book with us well in advance.
